All the teams taking on the Rickshaw Run have to try to raise a minimum of £1000 per team. The charity we are raising money for is Frank Water Projects – follow the link or see more about this charity below. But remember by sponsoring us – even if only $1, $5, $10 or more – you will be helping provide clean water to communities that do not have what most reading this take for granted.
Your support really matters. In a world where more than 4,000 children die EVERY DAY from a lack of clean drinking water, it’s clear that help is urgently needed. Please join us and be part of the solution.
To donate simply click on the ‘Donate’ button at the bottom of the Blue Just Giving Box below. This will take you directly to the Just Giving website – and direct to our fund-raising page. It’s that easy!
FRANK Water Projects funds sustainable, affordable, clean water projects using the latest technology to filter out both biological and chemical contamination. Currently over one billion people worldwide lack access to clean drinking water and more than two million people die every year from dirty water related diseases.
These especially affect children under the age of five. FRANK projects are mostly based in Andhra Pradesh, India. In this state a shocking 85% of hospital admissions are related to dirty water, with the World Health Organisation recognising over 20 water-related diseases. Women and children walk miles and spend hours collecting dirty water. Old pumps, boreholes and wells are often heavily contaminated both biologically and chemically.
FRANK Water works with a local Indian NGO called Naandi, funding and implementing community clean water projects. The money raised covers the capital costs of building the clean water facility. Villagers also contribute to these costs, giving them a sense of commitment and ownership to the project. This helps create a long-term sustainable clean water solution.
Every pound donated to FRANK will give one person access to clean, healthy water for life.
