About Us

“Lassi Come Home” is the Team name for the 2 intrepid adventurers who will be taking on the Autumn Rickshaw Run in September 2010. The Team members are, Andrew Kinnear and Paul McDonald. The Autumn Run starts high in the Himalayas, from the town of Gangtok in the Indian State of Sikkim, and finishes in the desert town of Jaisalmer in the State of Rajasthan. This is approximately around two weeks and somewhere around 5000km. Barmy? You bet. Why are we doing this? Adventure of course! Who wouldn’t want to drive a 3 wheeled vehicle powered by an engine the size of your average suburban lawnmower? And of course this is about raising some money for a very worthwhile cause! A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT US

PAUL

When Paul puts the distraction of work behind him, he spends his time contemplating (and sampling) fine wine, lobbing the odd Classic 2 down the rinks at North Sydney Bowling Club and howling with outrage and derision at umpires and the bozos masquerading as a footy team when watching Essendon play on the tele.

Since the annual pursuit of finals footy holds no attraction at all this September, he has decided to pack a compass, a dodgy road map and plenty of imodium to sample the culinary delights and experience the general thingness of North East and Western India.

Some say that Paul has the razor sharp intellect of Ricky Bobby, the sporting prowess of Doug Walters and the social adroitness of Harry Flashman. This may or may not be true. After all, he believes the scoville scale has something to do with pianos, a boson particle has something to do with pirates, eddie maguire is a real person and wishes he invented the question mark. Paul is yet to work out who these “some” people are.

His only regret about this adventure is that the flight home occurs on the day before the first Australia v India test match in Mohali (which is nowhere near our route anyway).

His motto for this adventure is “What time is the Midnight Buffet being served?……..”

ANDREW

Andrew’s report card in first grade at school read – “easily distracted” – and not much has changed since then. However Andrew can be amazingly focused – whether it be as an IT Market Researcher in his day (and night) job; cooking a splendid meal for his lovely wife Nathalie, son Zak, and daughter Sally – and whoever else drops in; or cheering passionately for his beloved Essendon Bombers AFL team. When Andrew sets out to do something, obstacles placed before him are merely something fun to jump over!

But deep within Andrew there lies an explorer – a desire to discover new lands! Hence the Rickshaw Run – he won’t be discovering the new world – but he will be going to places many only dream or watch documentaries about.

Andrew’s thinks Mark Twain sums up well:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

The website’s fun but you need some photos on this page so people can see who you are.

    Add a bit of colour.

It looks a long way-how many kilometres?
