Tomorrow the journey starts! 11:20am flight departing Sydney for Kolkata (Calcutta) via Singapore. It is hard to believe the day of departure has come so quickly – it was a couple of years ago when we really started thinking seriously about this adventure – and now it is all becoming very real. A mix of nerves, anxiety, excitement, and fear – well that’s what adventures are made of aren’t they? So keep watching this space – regular updates and photos to come. 4 weeks of madness – let the fun begin!
Tonight Andrew was interviewed by Sydney radio station ABC 702 representing team ‘Lassi Come Home’. Andrew was interviewed on the Robbie Buck evening show. It was a great interview with the audience invited to call in and share any similar adventurous experiences – turns out someone in Canberra has his own Rickshaw. The show intends to cross to us regularly during the course of our travels – we believe we may be on air again this coming Monday when we will be in Darjeeling, in transit on our way to Gangtok. Listen out for it!
PS – if you’re ever in Thaitown in Sydney (Campbell St between the Capitol Theatre and Central Station) there is a Thai restaurant on Pitt St (cant remember the name) with a rickshaw (tuk tuk) in it. Food down that way ‘aint bad either.
Another great day – we are almost at £2500 – inches away! We are extremely grateful and honoured by the support – THANK YOU EVERYONE! Now we are just 3 sleeps away from heading to India – and then the challenge really begins. Wish us luck. Oh – and if you want to forward the link to anyone – whether they be interested in following our adventure – or want to make a donation – please do – the more the merrier.
And – we are currently running 6th out of 60 teams in total money raised – help us get into the TOP 5.
More soon…
To all the folks who have donated to the Frank Water charity we can only say thank you very much. We have well and truly exceeded the target of 1000 pounds and as of writing this, we were over the 1500 pound mark.

Hopefully we will be in situations like this – can we avoid major roads – and take some back roads through national parks – like this:
And end up at a hotel like this hotel.
Somehow I think we may look back at this post and laugh…
Last minute purchases:
Shoes – the water proof kind (Gortex)
Medical supplies – the usual – Imodium; electrolytes; panadol, etc
Travel Towel
Water proof jacket
Water proof duffel bag
and plenty of other necessities…
What have I forgotten? Help us out – if you have ever undertaken a similar trip, or think of something you think we should take – use the “Start Discussion” section and let us know. All tips/advice welcome!
A message sent today from The League of Adventurists:
“Guys…the roads up to Gangtok are not in a good state…lots of closures and landslides. Make sure you allow a little extra time to reach Gangtok if you can. It will definitely be fun coming back down in a rickshaw!”
Can’t wait!!
Well we started the day at around £465 – and in less than 24 hours we have raised over £500 – we have passed our target of £1000. But we will not stop there – we want to smash our target goal and really make a difference. Thanks to everyone for their donations. And thanks to Luke K for the donation that took us from a 3 figure donation amount, to a 4 figures amount.
Great news – we have raised 50% of our Sponsoship Target – all down hill from here – literally I think – given the Run starts high in the Himalayas. Thanks to everyone who has sponsored us to date – we really appreciate the support!
Another article in the press – this time the Mosman Daily – one of the Heavy Hitters of Investigative Journalism in the country!
